Orsay Museum

Cognacq Jay

The history of this museum is just incredible and above all very romantic. This museum is the legacy of a fabulous love story between Ernest Cognacq (founder of La Samaritaine) and Marie-Louise Jay who became his wife. The Jacquemart André Museum

André Jacquemart Museum, Paris

Edouard André was born in 1833 and became the heir to two of the largest fortunes in Europe. In 1872, he met Nelie Jacquemart, a young artist responsible for carrying out his portrait. 1881 was the year of their union. From then on, they traveled a lot to enlarge the collection of works of art. A part was resold and the vast majority is now exhibited in the Jacquemart André museum.
